Department of Interior Design
As a contributor to service learning, I feel so lucky that I have met so many role-models in teachers and partners in the past years. The former serve as the benchmark from which I would like to learn things, and the latter serves as the support to help our team fulfill our mission.
We learn in order to facilitate our own growth. Fortunately, when I joined the care design team dedicated to providing the re-modeling and repair services to disadvantaged groups, indigenous peoples, and foreign immigrants, I not only learned a lot personally but also witnessed that the students were moved and inspired after their participation. It also contributed to their teaching after graduation by continuing to spread our philosophy, “care special needs plus design special care.” Bravo!

Department of Information Management
The management science curriculum combines the service learning project to provide the student team with the chance to practice the planning, organization, leadership, coordination and control, in addition to simply practicing the theories of management science.
I have guided the international volunteer group for five years. Each year, I instruct students to put forward proposals to the Service Learning Center, ASUS Foundation and Institute for Information Industry, and train the students who pass the selection procedure. CYCU students can upgrade themselves significantly in their professional areas. During the summer vacation, we engaged in IT teaching service in the schools of all levels in Khon Kaen City, Thailand, where we taught the local teachers and students about the development of APP, IoT sensors, AR, and Chinese education.
CYCU volunteer students also found that certain Thailand students have attended the courses for four consecutive years, because they believed that the courses benefited their studies and work a lot. The school principals also hoped that we could pass on the teaching materials to the local teachers in Thailand. The founder of CAS, Prof. Dr. Krasae Chanawongse, also the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, specially conferred the certificate to honor the students at the anniversary of CAS in order to thank the CYCU team for its contribution in the past five years, hoping that the local teachers could learn more from Taiwan by exchanging experience with the students from Taiwan to speed up the development of the North East Side of Thailand.
The teaching mode of service learning adopted by the curriculum can help students as well as me grow and always make all of us feel moved.

Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering
Since I joined CYCU in the school year of 2012, I have received the support and encouragement from Teacher Chin, Tsung-Chun of the Department of International Business, the chairs of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (including Professor Su, Ling-Huei, Professor Kuo, Tsai-Chi, Professor Chao, Ching-Jung and Professor Chiu, Yu-Fang), the Dean of Student Affairs, Jao Hsin, Director Li, Chun-Yao, and the other teachers of the Department. Because of them, I can receive this honor. Meanwhile, I also appreciate the chief and seniors of Tian-Liao Village, Teacher Lin, Chien-Tzu from Fudan High School, and the students participating in these service learning activities. These awards shall be shared among all of you.
Through thorough practicing of the service learning courses for 6 years, I strongly believe that someday, these children’s positive thoughts will affect the society and direct the society to truth, goodness and beauty in life. The seeds for love have been planted in the students’ mind through each class to affect them positively. The effect brought by the process of service learning to students might be slow, but it is deeply rewarding.
