[Reporter Lee Jung-Ping/News of Taoyuan] CYCU students are used to engaging in the international volunteer service in Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and Salvador during summer and winter vacation. Notwithstanding, they found that it was so rainy in Cambodia most of the rural area children went to school exposing in the rain.

The students of Department of Information Management founded the “Sunshine Taskforce”, initiated the raincoat and fund-raising project and set up the website “Love for Cambodia and Sun After Rain” based on their profession, in hopes of providing each of the rural area children in Cambodia a durable raincoat.

The student of Department of Information Management participating in the raincoat raising, Lin Li-Chun, revealed that most of the roads in Cambodia were muddy and it always rained locally. Therefore, some parents in the rural areas told their children not to go to school because they feared that children would get sick after exposing in the rain; she believed that if the children received durable raincoats, they could go to school happily every day to seize the chance for education and change.

The student, Ou Chia-Jung, said that as a child living in Taiwan provided with abundant resources, it was difficult for her to image that one could not go to school without a raincoat; the project could enable more people to know about the life in Cambodia and cherish own what they own currently.

In order to make the whole project operate more successfully, Feng Cheng-Chi, who was responsible for designing and setting up the webpages, set the Q&A section dedicated to explaining the criteria for acceptable raincoats and the reasons why umbrellas are not accepted. Any tangible raincoats (no disposable raincoats are acceptable) may to CYCU Service-Learning Center-Sunshine Taskforce at No. 200, Zhongbei Road, Zhongli District, Taoyuan City.
