Ministry of Education held the 2016 Youth Overseas Peace Volunteer Group Sharing & Presentation Ceremony yesterday to honor 15 excellent volunteer groups including National Defense Medical Center, CYCU and National Chengchi University and enable the youth to share their experience in service and demonstrate the abundant and diversified results achieved by the youth overseas service. Vice President, Chen Chien-Jen, who was invited to attend the ceremony, gave speech to recognize that the overseas youth volunteers all held the courage, charity and wisdom at the same time.

Establishment of the youth overseas peace volunteer group was one of the politic views proposed by President Tsai Ying-Wen, in order to encourage the youth to engage in oversea volunteer service, guide the youth to walk into the world, strengthen Taiwanese youth’s international influence, and expand the youth’s global view, found their excellent leadership and train their cross-cultural humanistic quality through the cross-border volunteer service. A total of 58 groups attended the competition this year. The groups which won the high distinguish, excellent and honorable awards were announced yesterday.

This year, China Medical University and Taipei Medical University won the high distinguish awards. National Tsing Hua University and Ling Tung University won the excellent awards. The 11 volunteer groups including National Defense Medical Center, Yuan Ze University and Ilan Leadership Development Association won the honorable awards. Some of the youth were arranged to give speech on the site to speak out their appreciation and expectation. The scene moved all of people.

The Thai Sweet international volunteer group member of National Defense Medical Center, Sun Chia-Hui, joked that because she looked like a Thai person for her color skin and overall look, she took advantage of this to adapt to the local life rapidly. Whenever she recalled that all of us had such pre-destiny although we were from different places, spoke different languages and believed in different religions, she felt so incredible but thankful.
