CYCU Promote Community Environmental Construction and Renovation of 26 Old Communities

CYCU College of Design was contacted by Taoyuan City Government CU to perform the plan for “Community Environmental Construction in Taoyuan” and guided a total of 26 community reconstruction projects in Taoyuan. The students did the bricklaying of sticky rice wall and transformed waste tires into kids’ tools, in hopes of building a brand-new style for these old communities.

The community workshop organized by the teachers and students of CYCU College of Design for “Historical Relics Renovation and Landscaping on Wenhua Road” in Jia’ an Village, Longtan District a few days ago invited the local carpentry teacher, Chiu Shih-Che, and the national treasure master, Tsai Sung-Po, led the CYCU teachers and students to do the bricklaying of sticky rice wall, and also learned how to apply the sticky rice, brown sugar, hemp and lime based on traditional construction methods. Chief of Village, Lo Chi-Chiao, also appreciated CYCU’s assistance in reconstructing the idle old military housing as a comfortable public space, and he planned to upgrade it as the in-depth tour guiding location.
